We have taken elements from all of these pictures to help develop our piece. Our work has been influenced by many films
as we have taken costume, location, music, editing and even characterisation
ideas from them. In particular from “Fish Tank”, taking the idea from the
‘father figure’ character and how he is richer in comparison. Then taking our
poorer teenage character from a combination of the 'Trainspotting' men and the
teenagers from “Kidulthood". Being
influenced by their location choices, for example the council
estate, meant we used establishing shot to show this.

Talent Sourcing - Casting
We started off with the idea of using a mixed gender cast and therefore did a bit of talent scouting with the girls we know who do drama. We then progressed to decide we wanted an all male cast as this was a unique selling point for our trailer - exploring the non-romantic relationship between two males as they grow up together and apart.

We therefore began talent scouting our male protagonists:

Research - Film watching
Costume, props and makeup
We have been looking at the costume for our two main male leads.
One is in a suit and very neat to stereotypically show him to be more well off than the other.
Our other male protagonist is very casual and untidy, he is seen as a 'slob' made clear through his clothing choice.

Props used will be minimal and only a laptop and newspaper (as well as anything already on the desk within the office we will be using) for our rich male lead.
The props for our poor male protagonist are again already in the room we have chosen to use. He mainly uses cigarettes to show his 'youth' and drinks cheap beers.
At one point in the trailer they are both wearing football scarves to show their friendship and unity towards one an other.
Location Scouting
We have been looking at various locations
A few of our main include:
A modern flash looking office for our one of our male leads to be based in. From research we know that a office with large windows, grande views and lots of space are seen as higher class and for a more wealthy individual. This is why we have chosen an office meeting these criteria.
And in contrast to this, a very untidy, almost 'slobbish' mans bedroom. This will be a in a council tower block as this carries a stereotype of which our male lead protagonist fits into.
And more deprived streets and housing again to further show the life of our lead protagonist. We have chosen Grove Park Estate in London.
Google Maps street view helped us a lot with our choices. It therefore helped us decide on Grove Park London. It had the perfect atmosphere and feel to it that we required for our 'run down' working class area.

Before finalising on Grove park estate we had a look at Croyden, however it didn't have the tower blocks we were looking for. We then went on to look at both Rochester and Watford however both the flat blocks there have recently been done up and were too 'nice' looking to use. Watford was also quite far away for ease of filming.
